SPAIN FALL BY THE WAYSIDE

One of the latest 2016 Euro’s qualifying matches that the Slovakia national football team played was against Spain as both national squads faced off in a match with the top spot of Group C in jeopardy. Surprisingly enough, it was Spain the team that fell apart and lost the match with a final scoreboard of 2-1.

Juraj Kucka scored the opening goal of the match which gave Slovakia the early lead at the 17th minute but Paco Alcacer equalized the match at the 82nd minute but the hosts managed to restore their lead and a late goal from Miroslav Stoch was enough for Slovakia to claim the unforeseen victory for his team.

The head coach of Slovakia, Jan Kozak could not contain his excitement concerning Slovakia’s victory over Spain. Spain is considered to be one of the best national teams in the world with a star studded squad which has well known and worldwide recognized players such as: Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas, David Silva, Juan Mata and many others.

Even with all of those big name players in the Spanish squad, Spain endured a disastrous 2014 World Cup campaign and they still seem to be struggling after losing against Slovakia.

“I am thrilled. We put in a fantastic performance in front of a full stadium. I hope we pleased our fans. This win is very precious. Spain has not lost a qualifier in eight years. Our players put in a very brave performance. We fought very hard and gave our best, especially at the back’’

“All the boys made a fantastic effort and played until the final whistle. People will say Spain underestimated us, but that is not true. We made Spain put maximum effort into the game’’ Slovakia’s Jan Kozak said.

Slovakia are now currently lying at the top of Group C with 9 points meanwhile Spain are following closely behind with 6 points collected so far.
