The former Barcelona superstar Ronaldinho has been recalled to the Brazilian national team by the new manager Luiz Felipe Scolari, who has praised the 32-year-old by saying that he still remains as one of the best in the world. Ronaldinho is best known for his spell with Barcelona during which time he managed to become the best player in the world. Even though several problems in his personal life and lack of fitness has reduced his impact, the player still remains as one to fear according to Scolari. He has also named the Santos striker Neymar in the same bracket as Ronaldinho.
Scolari recently named the squad for the upcoming friendly match with England. He has included the attacking midfielder Ronaldinho in the squad for the first time after many years. Since his spell with Barcelona, Ronaldinho has never been the same player. He had spells with the Italian club AC Milan and the Brazilian club Flamengo, but none were as successful. However, he has shown flashes of his brilliance once again with the current club Atlético Mineiro. This has led to the call-up to the national team, for whom he has made 94 appearances over the years. Ronaldinho has also scored 33 goals in these matches.
“I want what everyone else wants, which is that they play the football they are capable of playing. Few can play the game better than them. I also want good behavior. I want them to be responsible, regardless of their age. We have placed our bets on a World Cup win and that is what we are working towards. The supporters are right to demand it. I always like to have a stronger type of player in the penalty area,” said Scolari after naming the squad. Scolari won the World Cup with Brazil back in 2002.
