RONALDINHO AIMING FOR SPOT

The former Brazilian international Ronaldinho has said that he wants to get into the Brazilian team once again ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The former Barcelona man was regarded as one of the best players in the world only a few years ago. However, several issues with regard to fitness and form have meant that he has been almost forgotten on the international front. Ronaldinho almost single-handedly helped Brazil win the last World Cup in 2002. He is hoping that he will get one final opportunity to represent Brazil at a major tournament in the upcoming 2014 World Cup.

At 32 years of age, Ronaldinho does not have a long time left in football. Many expected him to go down the drain after returning to Brazilian football a few seasons ago from AC Milan. However, he has rediscovered himself and his full potential with his current club Athletico Minero, who came extremely close to winning the Brazilian championship last time around. The current Brazilian manager Luiz Felipe Scolari is someone who holds Ronaldinho in high esteem after having taken him as a youngster to the 2002 World Cup. Hence, Ronaldinho has not given the hope of representing the national team once again.

“There is no feeling greater than playing at a home World Cup in front of one’s own fans and I do not want to lose that opportunity. I’m confident and I still have a great passion for football and for Brazil, which leads me to try to return to the team I most love. I want to be part of the World Cup. It would be the greatest moment of my life and the lives of many in Brazil,” said the former Barcelona man. Ronaldinho has not been selected for the national team in the last 10 months.
