Former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez says that he is still over the moon with the feeling that he is a Barcelona player. The 27-year-old completed the move to the Spanish club for a fee of around £ 75 million, thus making him one of the world’s most expensive players. Suarez comes on the back of an impressive campaign with Liverpool in which he finished as the top scorer in the Premier League. However, the Uruguayan missed the start of the la Liga after receiving a four month ban from Fifa for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini.
He appears to have completely recovered from the incident. Even though his first few matches for his new club ended in a defeat, Suarez has been able to show his quality in the last few matches. He started from the bench against Almeria, but he came on and set up both goals in a comeback victory for the Catalan club. It is regarded that the British media played a vital role in Suarez’ getting tired of English football and seeking an exit. It does not appear to be the case, as he has revealed his love for Barcelona – a city where his wife has many interests.
Suarez has been strangely omitted from the FIFA Ballon d’Or award shortlist despite scoring 31 league goals last season.”For me, it is the ultimate to play for Barca. When I was little and travelled to Barcelona I looked in stores with items from the club, and now I do not believe it. It doesn’t seem like reality. The two goals I scored against England were the most enjoyable of my career. They laughed at me when I had surgery [before the World Cup] and I said ‘recover… but slowly’. I cried with joy for that, and for my family,” said Suarez.
